Assembly Polls: ECI Declares 4th February as Public Holiday In Punjab

Chandigarh: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced a holiday on February 4 in view of the Assembly election in Punjab to facilitate the voters to exercise their franchise to vote.

Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the Punjab government said that  as per the provisions of Section 135 B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, and instructions issued by the ECI, the employers of Industrial Establishments, Commercial Establishments, Shops and Establishments can have a paid holiday on the date of polling in Punjab on February 4.
