Daduwal is reported saying that religious leaders from many panthic organisations had expressed their support to him for the election.

The report claimed that they had ensured to work for him if he contested election as an independent candidate against the SAD-BJP and Congress candidates.

As per the report Daduwal is quoted saying, “In the Sikh religion, politics and religion go together but politics these days is hated by everyone due to widespread corruption, nepotism and dynastic element. Therefore, we need to clean the system for which my devotees are asking me to take the plunge and contest here,” he said.

He is further quoted that his devotees and panthic organisations had put forth the logic that the religious place of Talwandi Sabo, where Takh Shri Damdama Sahib was located, should be represented by a religious person in the state assembly so they have come in his support.
