Badal Dal, DSGMC welcome setting up of SIT to probe anti Sikh genocide

New Delhi: Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has welcomed the decision of the Bharatiya Janta Party led Central government to form of Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate all the cases of November 1984 Sikh genocide in which thousands of innocent Sikhs were killed mercilessly.

“The long battle fought by Badal Dal and its patron and Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal for justice has been accepted by the BJP government and we are thankful to the leadership including PM Narendra Modi, home minister Rajnath Singh and finance minister Arun Jaitley who have played key role in formation of SIT,” said SAD Delhi unit president Manjit Singh GK, reacting to the reports that the government of India would constitute SIT within a week.
Manjit Singh GK said that the SIT came into being because of “persistent” efforts of Badal Dal leadership and due consideration of the matter by the BJP government.
Though the effectiveness of SIT, which is eventually 12th probe penal formed by the Indian state to inquire into November 1984 Sikh massacres related cases, remains under question, Manjit Singh GK hoped that the SIT would bring the entire genocide to a conclusive end by giving justice to the families of the victims and punishing the perpetrators, who happen to be the congress leaders – Sajjan Kumar and Jagdish Tytler.
On the other hand Aam Aadmi Party leader and senior Supreme court lawyer HS Phoolka has questioned Badal Dal patron and Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal on somersault over SIT for 1984 cases. Another AAP leader Bhai Baldeep Singh also raised questions over effectiveness of SIT formed by the BJP government and demanded handing over of November 1984 related to “international court”.
