Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara’s unity move gets support from different panthic quarters: Dal Khalsa

Amritsar: Dal Khalsa has welcomed the unity move initiated by Jagtar Singh Hawara, who is serving life sentence in Beant Singh assassination case at Tihar jail.

Hawara while entrusting the leadership role to five Sikhs who issued the edict to boycott the disgraced Jathedar’s and were subsequently removed from the religious post of Panj Piyara’s by the SGPC, have urged them to laid down the procedural norms for convening the next Sarbat Khalsa.

Supporting Hawara’s unity move and reposing trust in five, the Dal Khalsa president Harpal Singh Cheema said there was need to consolidate the Panthic energy and talent on single platform. He was categorical that theirs group would back only principled moves.

After presiding over the meeting of core group, Cheema praised five Sikhs entrusted with the task of laying the procedures for next Sarbat Khalsa and a code of conduct for appointment and removal of Takhat jathedar’s by taking Panthic groups and personalities into confidence.

Another senior leader H S Dhami made it clear that they did not participate in the last year Sikh conclave organized at Chabha nor do they subscribe to its resolutions. We took decision in principle to stay away as the conclave was organized in the absence of procedural norms and san participation of large section of the community, said he.

The Sikh Federation UK, the working partner of Dal Khalsa at international level too hailed the unity move. Party president Amrik Singh Gill said the Sikh Diaspora will take active part in the next Sarbat Khalsa if the organizers ensure the fair participation of Sikhs across the spectrum and that proper procedural was laid down.

Meanwhile in a separate press note, acting president of All India Sikh Students Federation Karnail Singh Peermohammad has also lent its support to the move. He praised Hawara for his sincere efforts in bringing the divergent groups on single platform for the betterment of the community.
