Uttar Pradesh: Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad Ravan was release from a jail in Uttar Pradesh today at 2:40 am. The Uttar Pradesh government had announced to withdraw National Security Act (NSA) against him yesterday.

On November 2, 2017, the Allahabad High Court had granted bail to Chandrashekhar. However, a day before his release, he was booked under the NSA, thus preventing his release.
Under the NSA, he was to be detained till November 1.

Whereas the police maintained that the Dalit leader was released after taking into account the request from her mother and the changed circumstanced, Chandrashekhar said that the UP government released him to save its fake in wake of Supreme Court’s notice to the UP government in petition against his detention. It may be recalled that Chandrashekhar had moved to the Supreme Court of India against his detention under NSA. The SCI had recently issued notice to the UP government on his petition.

Interacting with media, Chandrashekhar Azad Ravan maintained that the Bhim Army has vital political role to play.

While addressing the media, the Bhim Army chief said that he will appeal to the people to not vote for BJP. Saying that he will not contest the elections, Azad added, “All that I had to go through, I will return them with interest in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.”
