CBI want the court to close case against Sikh genocide accused Jagdish Tytler

New Delhi: India’s premier investigation agency called the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday 24 field a closure report in a case filed against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in connection with November 1984 Sikh massacre related case.
The closure report was filed before the additional chief metropolitan magistrate, Karkardooma Court.

Senior public prosecutor Sanjay Kumar told the court that during further investigation, no evidence was found against Tytler. The CBI also informed the court that petitioner Lokinder Kaur was not cooperating with the investigation. “Ms Kaur did not provide us the details of the witnesses which she had named in her revision petition,” the CBI told the court.
The court had on April 10, 2013, directed the CBI to conduct further probe in the matter after Lokinder Kaur filed a revision petition in the court.
A case was lodged against Jagdish Tytler in connection with the attacks on Sikhs that took place on November 1, 1984, near Gurdwara Pul Bangash. In the incident, three Sikhs were killed by an Hindu mob which set them on fire.
The Gurdwara Sahib was also set on fire by the Hindu mob. Jagdish Tytler had provoked the mob to set the innocent Sikhs and the Gurdwara Sahib on fire. The court, after hearing the CBI, fixed January 17, 2015 as the next date of hearing.
Meanwhile, criticising the Centre for its decision to constitute a committee to probe whether an SIT was required to investigate November 1984 Sikh massacre related cases, senior lawyer and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader H.S. Poolkha said for all these days while in the Opposition, the BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) were demanding constitution of an SIT, but now had set up a probe to see whether an SIT is required in the matter.
“There are 237 cases which had been closed and that required further re-investigation,” Mr Poolkha said.
