Civil Society Groups to Hold Seminar on Jungles, Biodiversity and Water Issues in Punjab on 22 May

Ludhiana: Civil society groups active in Ludhiana are going to hold a seminar at Ludhiana on 22 May (Monday) on International Biodiversity Day.

Theme of the Seminar is “Water Stress in Punjab and its Impacts on Jungles, Biodiversity, and Society.” It will be viewed in relation to the serious issue of Pollution of Water Bodies (Buddha Darya and Satluj) and Subsoil Water, costing Lives.

The seminar will be held ay Ishmeet Singh Music Institute, Rajguru Nagar, Ferozepur Road, Ludhiana on May 22, 2023 from 10 am to 4 pm.

Working parameters, modus operandi, and conduct of events with participants are narrated below :

(a). Photo Gallery.

(b). Screening of Documentry.

(c). Seminar.

5. Participants in the Seminar along with Sequence and Time Plan :

(a). Total time available 10.00 AM – 02.00 PM = 04 hours.

(b). Start Time – 10.00 AM.

(c). Sequence – Photo Gallery 15 Minutes.

(d). Screening of Documentry – 15 minutes.

(e). Time to start Seminar – 10.30 AM.

(f). First half 10.30 AM – 12.30 PM. Total time – 02 hours. Time to start Break – 12 PM.

(g). Break – 30 – 45 minutes. 12.30 PM – 01.00 PM.

(h). Second Half – 01.00 PM – 03.30 PM.

(i). Questions and Answers – 30 minutes 03.00 PM – 03.15 PM. All speakers will be requested to stand on stage and reply to questions to be raised by the audience.

(j). Summing up by Dr. Devinder Sharma 10 – 15 minutes. 03.15 PM – 03.30 PM.

(k). Finishing Time – 04.00 PM.

(c). Outside speakers arranged by Dr. Rakesh Sharda 20 minutes each × 4 = 80 minutes.

(d). S. Kahan Singh Pannu – 15 minutes. Water Stress and its Impact on Environmental Resources and Society and Remedial Measures.

(e). S. Nazar Singh Mansaya – 15 minutes. Pollution of Water from Electroplating and Leather Industry and Remedial Measures.

(f). Col CJ Pal – 15 minutes. Importance and Pivotal Role of River Satluj in Saving Aggravating Situation of Water Shortage in Punjab due to Pollution with Adoption of Suitable Measures to Improve River Ecology, Biodiversity and Water Conditions.

(g). S Prithpal Singh – 10 minutes. Water Pollution and Green Revolution and its Implications and Remedial Measures.

(h). S. Paramjit Singh Gazi – 10 minutes. Water Stress and Procedures to adopt for Water Harvesting as Remedial Measures to Make up Deficiencies at Micro level in the State.

(i). Col JS Gill – 10 minutes. Diminishing Jungles and Biodiversity due to Water Pollution and Stress in Punjab and its Remedial Measures.

(j). S. Jaskirat Singh – 10 Use of Industrial chemicals and its discharge into Water Bodies and Subsoil and its Impacts on Living Beings and Remedial Measures.

(k). Questions and Answers – 15 – 20 minutes.
