Gurpreet Singh Guri Hans sent to Ludhaina Jail; Booked by Division No. 8 (Ludhaina) police under 107/151

Ludhaina, Punjab (December 16, 2013): It is learnt from sources that the Sikh youth, Gurpreet Singh alias Guri of Kila Hans village of Ludhiana district, who used so-called World Kabbadi Cup’s stage on December 14, 2013 at Guru Nanak Stadium Ludhiana to raise the voice of Sikh political prisoners languishing in Indian jails despite serving the terms of their sentences, has been sent to Central Jail, Ludhiana.

Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur, who returned to Ludhaina today after attending a two days conference in Kolkata – organized by Co-ordination Committee for the release of Political Prisoners, told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone that after becoming aware about the 14 December incident, he had told his colleagues to follow the arrest of Sikh youth (Gurpreet Singh Hans).

He said that as per information collected by his colleagues Gurpreet Singh Hans was kept at Police station Division Number 8 and CIA staff police station Ludhaina, where the police interrogated him and investigated the matter.

As per information Gurpreet Singh Hans has been booked under preventive detention clauses (sections. 107/151 Cr. P. C.) by Police station division number 8.

Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that Gurpeet Singh Guri was reportedly sent to Ludhaina jail on December 16, 2013.

It is notable that Gurpeet Singh Hans had attempted to use the state of World Kabbadi Cup to spread the message in support of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khasla’s fast unto death seeking release of 6 Sikh prisoner who have were not being released from Indian jails despite having completed the terms of their sentences. He was able to pick a mic thrown away be a stage performer who had fled from the state when Gurpreet Singh reached there, but the mic was already off as the performer was giving a dummy performance over the CD music. Gurpeet Singh was soon arrested by the Punjab police present there.
