She reportedly faced anger of the people over some local issue, involving SGPC’s attempt to take to possession of a Gurdwara Sahib in 2010.

“The SGPC had tried to take possession of the Gurdwara in 2010. Several meetings of the community have been held to resolve the issue in the past” the YesPunjab.com has noted.

President of the Bhullar Bhaichara committee Surjit Singh Bhullar reportedly said that despite assurances by the state government and Maur MLA and irrigation minister Janmeja Singh Sekhon, the government has failed to amicably resolve the issue.

Members of the community had blocked all the six entrance points of the village by parking tractor-trolleys and putting up big tree logs to prevent Harsimrat Kaur along with other SAD leaders from entering the village to address an election meeting.

Residents had announced on Friday night about the planned blockade of the village and had asked the people to enter or leave the village before 11 am.

A huge police force was deployed in the village to check the law and order situation. The villagers didn’t even allow the entry of police vehicles.

As per information Members of the community have been showing black flags to Harsimrat Badal at several villages under the constituency.

On April 12 Harsimrat Badal was also greeted with black flags in Balianwali and Mandi Kalan.
