Hold Sarbat Khalsa at Nankana Sahib on Nanakshahi Calendar issue: Sarna

May 26, 2015 | By

New Delhi: Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) led by Sarna Brothers of Delhi has said that a “Sarbar Khalsa” should be convened at Nankana Sahib to sort out Nanakshahi Calendar controversy.

“We are getting calls from across the world over the martyrdom day of Guru Arjan Ji. Sikhs are confused and this confusion has to come to an end before it further divides the Panth,” Parmjeet Singh Sarna said in a statement, a copy of which is available with the Sikh Siyasat News.

He said that the confusion over the issue related to Nanakshahi Calendar could only be cleared by “Sarbat Khalsa”.

“My opinion is that a Sarbat Khalsa should be convened at Gurdwara Nankana Sahib in Pakistan where Sikhs from around the world converge on various religious Gurpurabs” he said.

Sarna said that he will lead a Sikh Jatha to Pakistan to observe the Shaheedi Gurpurb of Guru Arjan Ji on June 16, while the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) had already marked the day on May 22.

Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (PSGPC) president Sham Singh has also demanded that the controversy of Nanakshahi Calendar should be settled down by Sarbat Khalsa.
