If Modi govt can clean the Ganges on religious basis, why not rivers of Punjab, asks Simaranjit Singh Mann

Abohar, Punjab (June 30, 2014): President Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar (SAD-A) Simranjeet Singh Mann on Monday (June 30, 2014) asked Modi government if it can clean Ganges on the basis of religious importance, why it can’t clean rivers of Punjab. He elaborated that the Beas river of Punjab is as important as Ganges for Hindus as Hindu scripture Rig Ved was written on the embankment of Beas river.

Talking to media persons here at rest house of irrigation department, Mann stated that the water of all the rivers of Punjab was polluted at such extent that it had been causing cancer in Malwa region.

“Wife of Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh, Surinder Kaur, son of former minister Haracharan Singh Brar and member parliament Jora Singh maan are among the victims of cancer in Punjab but the state government is still silent on the issue and failed to provide pure water for drinking”, said Mann.
