Jagtar Singh ‘Jaggi’ Sent To Judicial Custody At Nabha Jail, “Bagga-Shera” Arrested In Another Case Sent To Police Custody

Chandigarh: Scottish citizen Jagtar Singh Johal ‘Jaggi’ was today reproduced by the National Investigating Agency (NIA) in case RC/18/17/DLI before the special NIA court at Mohali after competition of his previous 7 days NIA police remand.

The NIA apprised Additional Sessions Judge I (Mohali) Ms. Anshul Berry about the developments (if any) in the case and stated that Jagtar Singh Johal is not further needed in any of the case, to which the judge committed Jagtar Singh Johal alias Jaggi to 30 days of Judicial custody at Maximum Security prison at Nabha.

Furthermore, Ramandeep Singh Bagga and Hardeep Singh Shera were today produced by the NIA before special NIA court at Mohali, in case RC/26/17 pertaining to the incident involving firing of shots at Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) shakha in the city of Ludhiana. They were sent to Judicial custody in this case till 20th January 2018 by the court of Additional Sessions Judge I Ms Anshul Berry.

In yet another case no RC/22/17 both Ramandeep Singh Bagga and Hardeep Singh Shera were arrested on Tuesday by the NIA. Initially the defense council had asked for 12 days custody of them, but after the opposition by the defense counsel Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur, the NIA managed to secure only 2 days of Police custody.

Meanwhile, the NIA has not reverted to the application forwarded by the defense counsel attributed to getting a medical check up (both Physical and Psychological) of Jagtar Singh Johal, that too through an independent medical board. The second request related to collective arrest of both Bagga-Shera by the NIA in all the cases being investigated by the agency. The NIA had initially asked for time to file a reply to the requests made but till date nothing such has been initiated on its part.
