Ludhiana: Arrested UK Citizen Jagtar Singh Johal alias Jaggi was presented by Ludhiana police in the evening before a area magistrate Ms Sumit Sabharwal in Ludhiana in FIR No. 218/17 (PS Salem Tabri). This case pertains to killing of Sultam Masih on July 15, 2017. The court sent Jaggi on police remand for 2 days.
Earlier today Jagtar Singh Jaggi was presented before a magistrate’s court in Baghapurana after his police remand expired. The Baghapurana court sent to judicial custody.
Jagtar Singh Jaggi’s counsel Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur said that the Baghpurana police took Jaggi to Faridkot jail from where Ludhiana police procured his custody in Sultan Masih case and he was brought to Ludhiana.
The Ludhiana police first brought Jagtar Singh Jaggi at the residence of Duty Magistrate, Ludhiana (at around 7:40 pm) where defence council Advo. Jaspal Singh Manjhpur was already waiting. The duty magistrate refused to handle the case and directed the police to present Jagtar Singh Jaggi before the area magistrate.
The police went to Sarabha Nagar area to present Jaggi before the area magistrate at his/her residence. Defence lawyer followed the police van. Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur told SSN over phone that at around 9 pm Jagtar Singh Jaggi was presented before area magistrate Ms. Sumit Sabharwal who sent him to two days police remand.
“We urged the court to ensure regular medical examination of Jagtar Singh Jaggi and grant permission for legal meeting on daily basis” said Advo. Jaspal Singh Manjhpur adding that the court accepted both requests.
“The court has granted permission to defence lawyer to meet Jagtar Singh Jaggi between 12 pm to 1 pm daily. He will be against brought before the court on November 19”, he added.

Jimmy Singh’s Police Remand Extended:
Meanwhile, the police remand of Taljit Singh @ Jimmy Singh was extended for one more day. He was presented before a Ludhiana under FIR No. 442/2017 u/sections 304, 34 of IPC and 25, 27 of Arms Act. This FIR was registered in relation to the killing of RSS leader Ravinder Gosain on October 17.
He will be reproduced before the court tomorrow.
