Panthic conference resolve to strengthen Bapu Surat Singh’s struggle; Sikh Jathas to court arrests from May 15

Ludhiana, Punjab: Sikh organisations today organised an impressive Panthic conference at village Hassanpur (near Ludahiana) to show their support for fasting Sikh activist Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa. Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa is on hunger strike since January 16 demanding permanent release of Sikh political prisoners, who remain jailed in India even after serving minimum mandatory terms of their sentences.
Representatives of various Sikh organisation and Sikh sangat from various parts of the Punjab attended the conference.
Bhog of Akhand Path Sahib was held in the morning. It was followed by Ardas for the success of the struggle initiated by Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa.
Some young Sikh activists brought Bapu Surat Singh to the venue of the conference as he was not able to walk without support due to continuous fasting.

Pantic speakers and representatives of various Sikh organisations shared their views with the Sikh sangat. They emphasised on unity among various Panthic groups on this issues.
The ‘Sangharsh Committee’ members resolved to launch a ‘girftari muhim’ from May 15. Under this ‘grifter muhim’ a Jatha of around 11 members will court arrest daily demanding permanent release of Sikh political prisoners who have completed their jail terms.

“Each Jatha will be led by at least one main leader of any of the Sikh organisations supporting Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s struggle”, a committee member told Sikh Siyasat News over phone.
Today’s conference was attended by representative of Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar (Mann), Akali Dal Panch Pardhani, Dal Khalsa, Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi (Sarna), Panthic Sewa Lehar (Baljeet Singh Daduwal), Sikh Youth of Punjab, Sikh Youth Front, Sikh Youth Federation Bhindranwal, Damdami Taksal (Ajnala), Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satikar Sabha, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satikar Committee and Baba Ranjit Singh Dhadrian and Bhai Panth Preet Singh.
