Chandigarh: Patta Patta Singhan Da Vairi – a movies said to be used on events of Sikh movement of 1980s-90s is set for global release on April 17. The movie was earlier banned in India by the Central Board of Film Certification. As per certain reports the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) has cleared the movie.
Patta Patta Singhan Da Vairi, produced by Fateh Sports Club, has Punjabi lyricists turned singer- cum- actor Raj Kakra in lead role.
Raj Kakra’s debut movie “Qaum De Heere”, which was based on life and martyrdom of Shaheed Kehar Singh, Beant Singh and Satwant Singh was also banned in India. However, the movie had received considerable response from Sikh diaspora sections.
There is sudden rise in Punjabi movies on on Sikh movement related stories in recent years, however, weak artistic and directional aspects of these movies remains a cause of concern for analytical Sikh circles.
