Amritsar: Pro-freedom Sikh group Dal Khalsa has written to G20 countries urging them to listen to the voices and viewpoints of the communities and nationalities that are being suppressed and threatened by the present dispensation in the country that is hosting the G20 summit.

The letter by the Sikh group is in reaction to the cancellation of the M&N 20 Summit aimed to provide a joint platform for minority and nationality groups in India to discuss and express their concerns, ranging from social justice to religious freedoms, human rights to economic equality.

The Dal Khalsa thanked 70 British MP’s for urging their Prime Minister Sunam to take up the issue of a political prisoner Jagtar Singh Johal, incarcerated in Indian prison, with Indian PM during his upcoming visit to Delhi during G20 summit. We will eagerly wait to see whether British PM will honour the words of his country’s MP’s. The organisation welcomed the Canadian govt gesture for ordering public enquiry into the interference of India in Canadian affairs.

The letter has urged the G20 countries to play the role to find out resolutions of political conflicts, release of all political prisoners from Kashmir to Delhi to central India, to end State’s interference in religious affairs of minority communities, upholding of democratic right to dissent, self-determination and immediate stop of misuse of NIA and draconian laws like NSA, UAPA.

“We believe that a comprehensive and truthful understanding of a nation’s social fabric is essential for diplomatic interactions, especially in the context of international gatherings such as the G20 Summit, said Kanwar Pal Singh in a letter addressed to foreign diplomats”, said Dal Khalsa leader Kanwarpal Singh.

Taking notice of the Modi call to G20 countries calling for “joint efforts to strengthen the territorial integrity of all countries, Dal Khalsa leader Kanwar Pal Singh said, “This is a negation of the right to self-determination and all G20 countries should not be carried away rather bypass the diktat of the leader of the host nation.”

Taking a jibe at the Modi statemetn that “it is imperative to adher fully to international laws, the leader of Dal Khalsa, “Bharat should make a beginning by accepting the call of the UN Declaration of Human Rights categorically, which states, “All peoples have the right of self-determination. By virtue of that right they freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development.”

Party spokesman Paramjit Singh Mand told the media that five women activists from Manipur, victims of Nuh violence, MP’s from Assam and Manipur, Tamil and Kashmiri activists, MLA from Delhi, SGPC president, Muslim Law Board convenor, president of the Buddhist Society, Christian & Dalit leaders beside University students we’re all set to participate in the minority conclave but GoI scuttled it via the management of the club. He said that it’s u democratic act of Bharat.

To a question on the debate on India and Bharat, Mand said Sikhs should not bothered about it. It is theirs (Hindus) country, let them decide which name they want to retain. We had no business in it as we are fighting for our own sovereign state and till it’s creation or liberation, Punjab is our homeland.
