Punjab government set to ban ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’ controversial movie, media reports

Chandigarh: A news flash on The Tribune (TT)’s website notes: “Punjab government is set to ban Punjabi movie ‘Nanak Shah Faqir’ “. It is notable that there is no official announcement in this regard so far, but media sections suspect that the Punjab government would soon announce to ban screening of the controversial movie with in the state.

It is notable that Nanak Shah Fakir movie violates fundamental Sikh tenets that prohibits any portrayal of Sikh Gurus. Sikh scholars and intellectuals have termed such portrayal of Sikh Gurus as path towards “Spiritual Suicide”.

Various Sikh groups across the globe are demanding withdrawal of the movie.

It is notable that various Sikh organisations are currently holding a meeting at Jalandhar to chalk-out action plan to prevent release of the controversial movie.

Sikh Activists to head with their plans to oppose the movie:

Talking to the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) Sikh activists who are opposing Nanak Shah Fakir movie said that they would continue to head with their plans. They said that ban in Punjab, if or when announced, will be first success against film producer

Harinder Sikka’s mischievous plans to harm Sikh tenets, but ban in Punjab is not full solution of the problem. The film should not be screened anywhere in any form/ mode, they said.
