Punjab MPs, except Bagwant Mann, focused on cremation grounds; Ignored Health facilities: RTI

Chandigarh: A Punjabi vernacular has made a stunning revelation maintaining that MPs from Punjab have extended huge financial grants for the improvement of cremation grounds while ignoring the health services.

A news reported in the Punjabi Tribune (09 May, 2015; CHD edn., p. 3) maintains: [a]s per information obtained through R.T.I, MP Sukhdev Singh Libra allotted grant worth Rs. 7.56 crore to cremation grounds of Fatehgarh Sahib from 2004-05 to 2014-15. Libra’s grant for health services counts only 40.66 lakh rupees.

Rajya Sabha MP Manohar Singh Gill extended grant worth Rs. 7.76 crores for improvement of cremation grounds of Tarn Taran, while his grant for improvement of health services amounts to Rs. 42 lakh only. Notably, Manohar Singh Gill also extended Rs. 18.21 crores grant to the education sector.

MP Ranjit Singh Brahmpura (Lok Sabha member since 2014) did not grant any funds for health sector, however, Brahmpura’s grant for cremation grounds amount to Rs. 31.88 Lakh.

Rajya Sabha MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa allotted funds worth Rs. 1.76 crores for cremation grounds and rs. 1 lakh for health services.

Former MP Vijender Singla granted Rs. 1.64 croces for cremation grounds and Rs. 8.03 for health services.

Bhagwant Mann granted Rs. 33.94 for health services and Rs. 40 thousand only for cremation grounds.

Prem Singh Chandumajra extended grant worth Rs. 12.43 lakh for health services in Mohali, but his grant for cremation grounds amounts 1.53 crores.

MP Ravneet Bittu granted Rs. 1.10 crores for cremation grounds of Mohali while Ravneet Bittu’s grants for health services amount to Rs. 2.50 lakh only.

MP Sher Singh Ghubhaya granted Rs. 67.50 Lakh for cremation grounds but did not grant any funds for health services.

Rajya Sabha MP Ambika Soni granted Rs. 1.16 crores for cremation grounds of Hoshiarpur from 2005-06 to 2013-14. She granted Rs. 27 lakh for improving basic infrastructure of health services.

Rajya Sabha MP Avinash Rai Khanna granted Rs. 1.29 crores for cremation grounds and Rs. 44.77 lakh for health services during 2010-11 to 2015-16.

Harsimrat Kaur Badal granted Rs. 44.80 lakh for cremation grounds Rs. 36.45 lakh for health services in Mansa.

Balwinder Singh Bhundar granted Rs. 62.10 lakh for cremation grounds and Rs. 68.05 for health services in Mansa.

Faridkot MP Prof. Sadhu Singh granted Rs. 12 lakh for cremation grounds and Rs. 8.11 lakh for health services in Faridkot.
