Remove black list of Sikhs; Jathedar Gurbachan Singh

January 19, 2010 | By

Amritsar (January 18, 2010): Jathedar Akal Takht Gyani Gurbachan Singh asked the Indian Government to remove the name of Sikh persons from black list so that they could come to their homeland, Punjab and elsewhere in this country.

Addressing the media persons here Monday, Jathedar said that number of Sikh people and Sikh families living abroad were unable to visit India to pay obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar due to their name existing in the blacklist of Indian Government.

Citing the recent example, Jathedar said that few days back on January 12, New Zealand based Sikh lady Shubneet Kaur was deported from Delhi Airport along with her two years old son on the pretext that her name stood in the blacklist of Indian Government. Whereas, she had visited India two years back along with her husband and now her name was appearing in the blacklist.

Issuing directions to Shriomani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, the Jathedar said that SGPC should come forward to take up this serious issue for the larger interest of Sikh community before the Punjab Government so that it could be further taken up before the Union Government of India.

Jathedar said that Sikh Nation was always peace loving and disseminate the message of peace and harmony all over. Keeping the name of Sikhs in black list, described biased attitude of Indian Government towards the Sikhs, said he.
