Rubabi Bhai Lal passed away; He was 17th generation descendent of Bhai Mardana Ji

Lahore/Pakistan (November 05, 2012): Rubabi Bhai Lal has passed away. He was 17th generation descendent of Bhai Mardana Ji – a companion of first Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He was undergoing treatment in a hospital at Lahore as he had suffered a heart attack few days back.

Bhai Lal was know for his distinct and traditional way of performing Gurbani Kirtan. He used to explain Gurbani, in Kirtan, by quoting instances from Gurbani itself.

Bhai Lal was born in Goindwal Sahib before the partition of Punjab. After the partition of Punjab between India and Pakistan in 1947 he had to migrate to western part of Punjab that is a province of Pakistan.

Bhai Lal had inherited the Gurbani Kirtan from his ancestors and he has passed this inheritance to his sons – Naiyen and Mohammad Hussain.

Bhai Lal was honoured by various organizations and he had received 58 major awards during his lifetime.

Many Sikh organizations and personalities have express their grief on the demise of Bhai Lal.
