SAD (Amritsar) shots show cause notice to Haryana unit chief for offering election support to Congress

September 6, 2014 | By

Chandigarh, Haryana (September 6, 2014): Four days after president of Haryana unit of Shriomani Akali Dal Amritsar (SAD-A) Ajit Singh Kahlon reportedly expressed gratitude to Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for formation of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) and reportedly extended support to Haryana congress for upcoming assembly elections, the party today issued show cause notice to Kahlon and asked to file a reply within a period of 10 days.

On the other hand, while talking to Sikh Siyasat News (SSN), Ajit Singh Kahlon said he feels sorry for not consulting party chief Simranjeet Singh Mann and General Secretary Jaswant Singh Mann before “offering” support on certain conditions.

“I will certainly seek an apology from party leaders as I have committed a mistake”, he told SSN over phone.

On September 02, 2014, Ajit Singh Kahlon invited controversy and criticism after he reportedly expressed gratitude to Haryana congress. According to news reported by News agency P.T.I. on September 03, 2014, the state unit of SAD (A) had decided to extend full support to the Congress party in upcoming assembly polls.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, copy of which was released to media, Haryana SAD (A) president Prof Ajit Singh Kahlon also appreciated various decisions taken by the state government for the welfare of farmers and the common man.

“I am also a leader of Bhartiya Kissan Union and I had sent a message to CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda via Haryana Transport minister that if Hooda was ready to give at least 14 seats to Sikhs in Haryana, they would “think of supporting” congress in Haryana”, he claimed.

“It was just an offer on some conditions telling Hooda to consider SAD-A as a Sikh representative party but he gave no value or weight to us. So we will neither support congress nor any other party”, he further claimed.

“I have not received any notice so far but I am ready to file an answer seeking apology, though it is personally or in written”, he told SNN.

Darbara Singh, secretary and party spokesman of Haryana unit of SAD-A, told Sikh Siyasat News over phone that the party has neither decided to support congress nor extended any gratitude. “I am still to talk to Ajit Singh Kahlon as I have just returned from England but the party will standby the decision of the party chief Simranjeet Singh Mann”, he added.

SAD-A leader of Punjab unit Prof. Mohinderpal Singh from Patiala told Sikh Siyasat News, “Party have issued a show cause notice to Ajit Singh Kahlon and others involved in the matter and a 10-days time period has been given to file a reply”.

“Sikhs have suffered lots of atrocities from the sides of congress as well as Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and we can’t even think of supporting or allying with both parties. We just consider these parties as enemies of Sikhs”, said MP Singh.

Meanwhile, Party spokesman Ikbal Singh Tiwana, in a press release on Saturday, said that the party had no consent in the decision of Haryana unit chief Ajit Singh Kahlon.

“A show cause notice has been issued to Kahlon and another Parvinder Singh Bedi. Both the leaders have been asked to file a reply within 10 days and the reply would be discussed in the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) and the PAC would decide further action on the issue”, mentions the press release.
