Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the members of Sikh community demanding action against perpetrators of the 1984 Sikh Massacres in India held a protest demonstration.

The protesters carrying placards assembled at Lal Chowk area of the town and held a march, which culminated at Deputy Commissioner’s office.

The 1984 Sikh Massacre was a series of pogroms directed against Sikhs in India, by organized mobs, organized by high ups  in Indian administration and the Congress party.

“Thousands of Sikhs were brutally massacred and even after 30 years the culprits are still roaming free while justice continues to elude the victim families,” said Gyani Rajinder Singh, Head Gurduwara Prabhandak Committee Chhatisighpora.

He said not only was the genocide of Sikhs carried out but their religious places were also desecrated.

He added that various commissions which were set up from time to time to probe the killing of Sikhs clearly proved the involvement of Jagdesh Tytler, Sajjan Kumar, R J Baghat and even Amitabh Bachan but no action was taken against them.
