It may be recalled that Bhai Ravinder Singh Littran was killed, along with 3 other Sikh youth, by Punjab police during Saka Nakodar on 4 February 1986. Bapu Baldev Singh and his family is struggling for past three decades to get proceedings initiated against culprits ‘Saka Nakodar 1986’.

Bapu Badev Singh has shared the copy of letter he and his wife wrote to UN Secretary-General on October 1, 2018.

The text of letter is being reproduced below in verbatim for the information of readers of Sikh Siyasat News (SSN):

October 01, 2018

Mr. António Guterres
Secretary General
United Nations

We present this case to expose hypocrisy of Indian “democracy” and impotence of its “justice” system that denies basic rights to minorities.

On the 4th February 1986 in the city of Nakodar, 4 unarmed, peaceful, and nonviolent members of All India Sikh Student Federation (AISSF) were killed in an unprovoked, unjustified, and unnecessary firing by the Punjab Police and Indian para military forces while they were serenely protesting against the desecration of religious Sikh Scripture, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

While the families waited to collect the dead bodies of their loved ones: Mr. Ravinder Singh Littran, Mr. Baldhir Singh Ramgarh, Mr. Jhilman Singh Gorsian, and Mr. Harminder Singh Chaluper, Apparently the police went against government orders and cremated their remains in the dark of the night. Rather than lose their jobs, the killers held on their positions and were even rewarded with promotions for their actions. The government’s own judicial inquiry report has remained tucked away from the public eye and buried deep down without trace for over 31 years.

We, the parents of one of the victims have been fighting for justice for 32 years, while the parents of other three victims have passed away waiting for any semblance of justice.

Two of the state opposition MLAs raised the issue to the release the government’s own judicial inquiry into the events leading up to the after the murder of the four young men at the hands of the police in the Punjab legislative assembly on August 28, 2018. Sadly, there has been no indication from the state government of any intention to do so.

We are pleased to learn that you will be visiting Darbar Sahib in Amritsar, on October 3, during your forthcoming visit to Indian subcontinent. Please support us by asking Punjab government to release Justice Gurnam Singh Commission Report regarding the 1986 Nakodar Killings.

We would like to find out who ordered to shoot and secretly cremate the bodies our innocent children before we close our eyes.

Regards,

Baldev Singh and Baldip Kaur
(Parents of Ravinder Singh Littran)
