Amritsar, Punjab (August 18, 2014): Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa, who observed a 42-day fast seeking release of Sikh prisoners languishing in various jails last year, reached completed his foot journey and reached Akal Takht on August 17, where they submitted a memorandum at Akal Takht secretariat in absence of Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh.

Amritsar, Punjab (July 16, 2014): According to information available with the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) Haryana Sikh leader, including Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (ad hoc) headers Jagdish Singh Jhinda and Didar Singh Nalvi have been “excommunicated” from the Sikh panth. A directive in this regard has reportedly been issued by Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh.
Amritsar, Punjab (June 16, 2014): The jathedar of Akal Takhat has invited suggestions from gurdwara management committees and Sikh religious organisations and groups on sending saroops of the Guru Granth Sahib to Gurdwaras in various countries. The Jathedar decided to invite suggestions as criticism has come in from certain quarters, expressing reservations on packing the scripture in containers and then shipping it.
The Akal Takhat Jathedar Gurbachan Singh has stated that the decision on the issue of clashes of June 6 would be taken by the five Jathedars of various Takhats after receiving report of a committee formed Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Avtar Singh Makkar.
According to media reports Jathedars Five Sikh Takhats are going to hold a meeting at Amritsar on June 15.
A day after the violent clash between some youth and Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee task force broke out near Akal Takht Sahib in Darbar Sahib Complex, Jathedar of Akal Takht Giani Gurbachan Singh reportedly issued directions the SGPC to constitute a sub-committee to probe the incident. He has asked SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar to submit a report.

The title will be bestowed upon him early next week by Giani Gurbachan Singh, Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib.
