As per media reports, the Punjab government has taken a plea in the Punjab and Haryana High Court that the cremation of dead body of Ashutosh, a dera chief, could lead to law and order problem.

Controversial Noormehal Dera called Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan (DJJS) on Friday (December 05) failed to get any relief from the Punjab and Haryana high court on its petition asking the court to put its December 1 order for sect head Ashutosh’s cremation in abeyance for one month.
While addressing a press conference in Chandigarh Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal said that Punjab government was still exploring Punjab and Haryana High Court order directing Punjab govt. to cremate the dead body of controversial godman and head of Dera Noormehal Ashutosh.
Chandigarh: It appears that any action on High court’s order commanding cremation of controversial godmand and dera Noormehal head Ashutosh (real name Mahesh Kumar Jha) is unlikely for the time being as both parties, petitioners and respondent/s, have expressed dissatisfaction over yesterday’s decision.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court today asked authorities to cremate dead body of Ashutosh in 15 days. Ashutosh a controversial godman and former chief of Noormehal based Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan had died on January 29, 2014 however the dera management declared that Ashutosh was in Samadhi (deep meditation) and his body was kept in freezers in side the dera.
Punjab and Haryana High Court is likely to pronounce its judgment in the controversial Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan case involving the ‘life status’ of it’s head Ashutosh on December 01. The Punjab police has beefed up security around the dera premises in Noormehal.
Chandigarh/ Punjab (August 26, 2014): Controversial godman and head of Divya Jyoti Jagran Sansthan or the Noormehal dera, Ashutosh died on January 28, 2014 but his sect has been keeping his body in freezer claiming that he was alive and had just taken a Samadhi (meditation mode). The issue took another turn yesterday when a judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court questioned the Punjab government on its silence over the issue.
