Earthquake shakes Japanese island of Honshu; Magnitude 6.8, No threats of tsunami

As per media reports an earthquake hit the main Japanese island of Honshu. According to US Geological Survey the magnitude of earthquake was 6.8 on richter scale, though USGS had originally reported the earthquake as 6.9 magnitude.

Radioactive leakage detected from Japan’s Fukushima nuclear plant

Fresh leakage of high radioactive water is detected from Japan's Fukushima nuclear plant. Officials of Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) said the sensors, which were rigged to a gutter that pours rain and ground water at the Fukushima Daiichi plant to a nearby bay, detected contamination levels up to 70 times greater than the already-high radioactive status seen at the plant campus.
