Brussels, Belgium (June 28, 2013): A conference on “Human Rights and Death Penalty in India” was held on June 25, 2013 in European Parliament in Brussels, in which various MEPs and Sikh representatives from across the Europe had participated. The conference was reportedly organized at the initiative of Sikh Federation UK.
Having regard to the European Parliament's July 2011 Resolution on India and the death sentence on Professor Davinderpal Singh Bhullar, Article 2 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, EU Guidelines on the Death Penalty, the EU-India Dialogue on Human Rights, Amnesty International calls on 12 April 2013 for the Professor’s death sentence not to be carried out . . .
Brussels (June 26, 2013): It is learnt that the first ever Sikh conference at the European Parliament was held on 25 June, 2013. The conference was organized at the initiative of the Sikh Federation UK. The Sikh Federation (UK) having previously organised numerous such lobbies and meetings. The subject chosen was Human Rights Abuses and the Death Penalty in India.
Brussels (June 25, 2013): A conference in the European Parliament in Brussels on the Death Penalty and Human Rights abuses in India is schedled to be held today (on June 25, 2013). Bhai Amrik Singh, the Chair of the Sikh Federation (UK) told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that '[t]he conference is taking place in the Paul Henri Spaak Building in the European Parliament in Brussels. Politicians from across Europe have a crucial role to play in acting as a catalyst for change in the Indian judiciary's use of the death penalty and ensuring human rights are protected.’

Switzerland, Geneva (April 27, 2013): Seeking United Nations intervention to save death row inmate Devenderpal Singh Bhullar, a Swiss NGO “Movement Against Atrocities and Repression” (MAAR) and Sikhs For Justice” (SFJ) an international human rights group, filed an appeal with Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial, Summary or Arbitrary Executions, Honorable Christof Heyns on April 25.
Switzerland, Europe (April 27, 2013): Sikh diaspora in Europe has urged the United Nations to send a 'fact finding' mission to India to investigate into the case of Professor Devender Pal Singh Bhullar, currently on death row, and pressurize Indian government to suspend his suspected execution. Besides this a call has been made to boycott Air India flights in protest against Indian government for their decision to hang Prof. Bhullar besides worldwide protest.
Ludhiana, Punjab (April 24,2013): According to a news report by Times of India (TOI): "[w]hile Sikhs in India, Punjab government and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee are putting every effort to save Devinderpal Singh Bhullar, currently on death row, from going to gallows, thousands miles away preparations are afoot in a Gurdwara in Langenthal , Switzerland to hold demonstration in front of the office of United Nation on April 25th".

Bristol, Europe (April 05, 2013): The Bristol Branch of the Sikh Federation (UK) organised a meeting with Ashley Fox a Conservative MEP from the South West. The meeting took place at on Tuesday 2nd April 2013 at Sri Guru Nanak Prakash Singh Sabha Gurudwara, Fishpond Road, Bristol. Similar meetings are in the process of being organised with UK MEPs in other parts of the UK.
