Panchkula, Haryana (July 18, 2014): After attending a meeting of Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee members and workers at Gurdwara Nadha Sahib (Panchkula) yesterday, the SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar said that key of Golaks of 8 Sikh Gurdwaras of Haryana shall not be handed over to newly formed HSGPC.

He said that SGPC does not recognize HSGPC as it’s an outcome of Congress party’s “divide and rule policy”.

He claimed that the Haryana government lacks the legislative capacity to pass a bill on SGPC, and Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s government has just passed a “mini” bill named as Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Money Bill.

He claimed that Sikhs of Haryana have already started protesting against formation of HSGPC and the people would soon come to know about the next course.

SGPC member Sucha Singh Langah, who was accompanying Makkar, also made similar statement.

More than 200 Badal Dal leaders and SGPC members, employees participated in this meeting.

It is notable that the issue of HSGPC was in debate for last 14 years, but SGPC failed to make any effort to address the concerns of Sikhs in Haryana that has led to the division of historic body. Moreover, the SGPC’s working has degenerated to a large extend during last decade and now it’s just a wing of the Badal Dal.

On the other hand HSGPC leaders Jagdish Singh Jhinda and Didar Singh Nalvi have said that they are waiting for Haryana government’s call to take over charge of historic Sikh Gurdwaras in Haryana.
