Washington, United States (September 26, 2013): “The World Sikh Council – America Region (WSC-AR) is extremely saddened by the horrific crimes of violence at the WestGate Mall, Nairobi, Kenya and at the All Saints Church in Peshawar, Pakistan. These acts of crimes against humanity need to be condemned by all peace loving citizens of the world” reads a statement sent by WSC-AR to the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN).

Currently, at least 67 persons have been reported dead and over 100 injured, with many critically injured, at the WestGate Mall, Nairobi. Also there have been at least 80 killed and over 200 injured, with many children who are grievously injured at the All Saints Church in Peshawar. Most of the congregants at the Church were poorest of the poor. Among the dead was one young man recovering from a serious illness who had gone to Church to keep his promise of thanking God for helping him heal.

The WSC–AR has sent its heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of those who have been taken away by this terrible tragedy. We pray for a speedy and full recovery of the injured. Our prayers are with all the victims, their families, and local community. May Almighty God lighten your burden, and grace you with hope and healing under these very difficult circumstances. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of profound tragedy and grief.

WSC-AR has requested the US Department of State to help and assist the two countries in taking strict action to stop further acts of terrorism on innocent people. Such heinous acts must be condemned in the strictest manner.

According to the statement “WSC-AR is reaching out to its representative Gurdwaras to assist and help in any way they can to heal the victims and their loved ones touched by this terrible trauma of terrorism which has torn apart many lives”.

The World Sikh Council – America Region (WSC-AR) is the umbrella organization representative of Sikhs in the United States. It is an elected body of Sikh Gurdwaras and institutions. Currently 51 Gurdwaras and other Sikh institutions across the nation are members of WSC-AR. The major governing purpose of the organization is to represent the collective view of Sikhs in the United States. WSC-AR works to promote Sikh interests at the national and international level focusing on issues of advocacy, education, and well-being of humankind.
