New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party has removed its Punjab chief Sucha Singh Chhotepur for allegedly accepting cash from a person. The issue is reportedly handed over to the disciplinary committee for further action.
Notably, 21 Aam Aadmi Party leaders from Punjab, including members of Parliament Bhagwant Mann and Sadhu Singh, had written a letter to party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asking him to immediately sack Sucha Singh Chhotepur based on “party’s principles of zero tolerance towards corruption”.
They cite as proof against the Punjab leader a sting operation in which the 65-year-old Chhotepur is allegedly seen accepting cash from a person. As per media reports AAP leaders had enclosed a video clip with their letter to Mr Kejriwal; the alleged sting has not been made public.
Arvind Kejriwal had called a meeting of top party leaders in Delhi today after which AAP announced to sack Sucha Singh Chhotepur as convenor of Punjab unit.
Meanwhile, Sucha Singh Chhotepur denied the allegations. Chhotepur held a press conference in Chandigarh demanding to be shown the sting. He said that he was even ready to face CBI inquiry into this matter. READ DETAILED REPORT OF SUCHA SINGH CHHOTEPUR’s PRESS CONFERENCE …
