A float carrying widows and victims of November 1984 was launched which will visit all the states where Sikhs were subject to genocidal attacks during November 1984 and will collect signatures in support of the Genocide Petition.

The Sikh “Genocide Petition” will be filed pursuant to “1503 Petition” procedure asking UN to investigate the systematic, intentional and deliberate killing of Sikhs carried out throughout India during the first week of November 1984 and to recognize the same as “Genocide”. Under The “1503 PETITION” the Commission on Human Rights examines complaints which show consistent patterns of gross human rights violations as in the case of Sikhs during November 1984. The petition will be presented to UN at Geneva Switzerland in November by Federation President Karnail Singh Peermohammad along with Bibi Jagdish Kaur prime witness in Sajjan Kumar’s case.

AISSF President Karnail Singh Peermohammad stated that victims are pursuing “Genocide Petition” before UN because successive governments have failed to investigate and prosecute the leaders who organized the killing of thousands of Sikhs during November 1984. The gravity, scale and specially the organized nature of these attacks was concealed by the Indian governments’ portraying them as “November 1984 Anti-Sikh Riots of Delhi”. These attacks were neither “riots” nor were they confined to Delhi alone. In fact, during November 1984, Sikhs were attacked in 18 states and more than 100 cities throughout India with specific intent to destroy the Sikh community added Peermohammad.

In 2012, Sri Akal Takhat Sahib issued a historic edict directing All India Sikhs Students Federation (AISSF) and “Sikhs for Justice” (SFJ) a human rights group to file “1984 – Genocide Petition” before the United Nations. Sri Akal Takhat Sahib, which is supporting the prosecution of perpetrators of those who organized killing of Sikhs, has already in July 2010 declared the massacre of Sikhs in November 1984 as “Genocide”.
