Dead body of Bhai Jagjit Singh brought to RS Pura in form of Shaheedi March; Antim Sanskar on June 6

Jammu: The Jammu administration today handed over the dead boy of Bhai Jagjeet Singh to his family. He was shot by Jammu police in the head on June 04 and died on the spot.

S. Iqbal Singh, one of the organizers of Ghallughara June 1984 Shaheedi Samagam in Simbal Camp (Jammu) told SSN that Jagjeet Singh’s dead body was kept at Medical College of Bakhshi Nagar, Jammu. It was handed over to the family members of Jagjeet Singh by police and civil administration of Jummu in the presence of Sikh sangat.

The body of Bhai Jagjeet Singh was brought to village Chohalla in Ranbir Singh Pura, also called R S Pura, area in form of a “Shaheedi March”, he said.

The march was halted at various places for the Sikh sangat during 20kms stretch from Bakshi Nagat to Ranbir Singh Pura, he added.

The Antim Sanskar of Bhai Jagjeet Singh will take place at his native village Chohalla in R S Pura.

As the internet services were banned earlier today in Jammu no images of the “Shaheedi March” were available.

Press Conference by Sikh leaders:

Mahant Manjeet Singh and other local Sikh leaders today addressed a press conference in Jammu and demanded strict action against police officers responsible for firing on unarmed Sikh youth. They said that killers of Bhai Jagjeet Singh, and those senior police officers who were responsible for ordering the fire should be punished.

They urged Sikh sangat to observe peaceful protests.

Protests by Sikh Sangat:

Meanwhile Sikh sangat came out of their houses to protest against yesterday’s police firing. Sources told Sikh Siyasat News that Sikhs in large numbers blocked roads at Simbal Camp, Dagiana Ashram and Gadigarh areas of Jammu. They staged sit-in and recited Gurbani.

Sikh Sangat resolve to hold Shaheedi Samagam:

S. Iqbal Singh said that the Sikh sangat has decided to hold the Ghallughara Shaheedi samgam on June 6.
