Delhi Sikhs held candle light vigil and protest outside Tihar Jail; Demanded release of Sikh prisoners

Delhi, India (December 07, 2013): Demanding release of various Sikh political prisoners who were languishing in Indian jails even after completing the terms of their sentences, the Sikhs in Delhi held a candle light vigil and peaceful protest outside Delhi’s Tihar Jail.

The vigil that was attended by hundreds of Sikhs was held on the evening of December 07, 2013.

It is notable that many there are many Sikhs in Indian jails who have completed the terms of their sentences but were not being released by states’ or central authorities.

The protest and vigil by Delhi Sikhs expressed solidarity with Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa who is on hunger protest / fast unto death since November 14, 2013 and Bhai Damandeep Singh who started his hunger protest or fast unto death on December 06 after the arrest and detention of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh by Punjab police.
