London, United Kingdom (June 09, 2014): Five Resolutions unanimously adopted by UK Sikhs during Freedom Rally at Trafalgar Square (London) on June 08, 2014 reads as follows:
Resolution 1 – Sikh Genocide in 1984
The systematic killing of Sikhs 30 years ago in 1984 meets the 1948 United Nations legal definition of Genocide and must be recognised as such by the UK Government and the international community.
Resolution 2 – Independent public inquiry
An independent public inquiry is essential so we have the full truth into the UK Government’s complicity in the June 1984 attack, why the UK Government stayed silent about Operation Woodrose and how the Indian government exerted pressure in November 1984 to interfere in our religious affairs in this country and prevent the British, Canadian and German governments sympathising with the Sikhs while thousands of Sikhs were being burnt alive across India.
Resolution 3 – Constructive dialogue and meeting with victims
The Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary must enter into a constructive dialogue with British Sikh representatives and urgently meet victims and their families.
Resolution 4 – Possible legal action and UN-led inquiry
The Sikh community working with others should consider legal action if the Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary fail to give the British public the truth about 1984 through an independent and full inquiry in the UK that is a vital step towards an international UN –led inquiry into the Genocide of the Sikhs.
Resolution 5 – Independent Sikh state
The Genocide of the Sikhs that began 30 years ago in June 1984 laid the foundation stone for an independent Sikh State. Sikhs have had no justice in the last 30 years and the experience to date since 1947 suggests Sikhs will never get justice in India. We owe it to Sikh martyrs to pledge we will stop at nothing less than outright independence for the Sikhs.
