J&K Sikhs expressed anguish over pessimistic behavior of State & Center govts

Srinagar, Kashmir (August 17, 2012): As per information forwarded to Sikh Siyasat by a representative of AISSF (Peer Mohammad) the first ever ethnic Sikh Conference was held at Sir Dr. Syed Iqbal Mini Convention Centre, Srinagar. As per press release thousand of Sikhs from all over the India including Jammu and Kashmir state participated and expressed their anguish over pessimistic behavior of state and central government for not resolving the Sikhs issues pending since six decades.

Sikh Ethnic conference started with the recital of prayers. Speaking on the occasion All Party Sikh Coordination Committee (ASPCC) Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina well come the delegates and expressed that time and again we put forward our genuine demands in front of state and central government but both turned blind eye towards Sikh community. Now we are left with no other option rather them have peaceful demonstration and seminar to make world community and deaf ears ware about our issues.

  • Issuance of State Subject Certificates
  • Granting of minority Status to Sikhs
  • Compensation for the losses incurred in rural areas over the past two decades (Agriculture/ horticulture) which was main source of income for Sikh families.
  • Employment package for educated Sikh youth on top most priority.

Scholarship and Admission to Sikh youth in technical and non technical collages at par with migrants.

Speaking on the Conference Karnail Singh Peer Mohd. President Sikh Student Federation said mistaken identity killing in which many Sikhs have lost their lives and which were aimed for Muslim community cannot be tolerated as prearranged killings are nothing but genocide of minority community living there.

Dilmag Singh Secretary Shromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee assured that colleges run by SGPC will provide free admission to the meritorious students of J&K.

Er. Niramal Singh said in his speech provided statistical analysis which reviled how Sikhs of J&K are deliberately ignored and deprived of their minority category, with regards to employment and education at all levels.

Gurdev Singh Sikh leader from Jammu said that since 1947 to till date 50 .

Thousand Sikh have laid their lives but Government of India have forgotten all these sacrifice at the cost of other favorites minorities.

Joginder Singh Shaan said even we faced and are facing many hardship due to ongoing turmoil but we choose to stay in Kashmir Valley but state and central government have failed to resolve any of our legitimate demands.

Harcharan Singh Khalsa a prominent Sikh Leader from Jammu region said that it is matter of concern that migrants of Kashmir are given more benefits then Refugees of 1947. We are facing immense problems since 6 decade but govt of state and central is paying no attention towards our grievances.

Other prominent leaders and speakers included K.S Bedi, Jasbir singh Azad (AISSF) Harjeet Singh Sweety, Jagdev Singh, D.D Singh, Dleep Singh Deepak and others.

They all unitedly said that government should solve our issues like Employment Packages, minority status, issuance of backward and state subject certificates, filling of Punjabi posts, compensation for agriculture and horticulture losses and fresh probe for Chattisinghpora massacre.
