Resignation by Niranjan Singh exposed nexus between Modi, Captain and Badal: AAP

October 13, 2018 | By

Chandigarh: Harpal Singh Cheema AAP MLA and leader of opposition in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha today alleged that state and central investigative agencies in drug smuggling case against former SAD minister Bikram Singh Majithia were under consistent pressure to save the guilty.

Cheema in a statement here today said that the resignation by Niranjan Singh Deputy Director Enforcement Directorate and submissions made by Amicus-curie Anupam Gupta in the High Court has exposed the unholy nexus between Prime Minister Narender Modi, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal who are working in tandem to scuttle the probe in drug cases.

Cheema said that AAP had been telling it from the very beginning that BJP government in centre and successive state governments led by Parkash Singh Badal and Capt Amarinder Singh were protecting the big fish involved in drug trade in the state.

AAP leader said that Niranjan Singh who is the supervisory officer in the Rs.6000 crore drug case against Bikram Singh Majithia had resigned under pressure and out of frustration as he was not allowed to examine any witness in the case against Majithia and no staff was given to him to investigate the case properly. Anupam Gupta has also told the court that Niranjan Singh was getting constant threats by the accused persons.

Cheema demanded an explanation from Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Capt Amarinder Singh, Parkash Singh Badal, Sukhbir Singh Badal, Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Capt Amarinder Singh on the issue of resignation by Niranjan Singh and why they are trying to save Bikram Singh Majithia in the drug case. He said that any allegations by ED officer in public domain may be questioned but when the matter is placed on record in the Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court, it becomes a serious issue.

He said that AAP will expose the nexus between Congress, SAD and BJP who are responsible for drug menace in Punjab. He said that Niranjan Singh was an upright officer and he should be allowed to work without any political pressure.
