Simranjit Singh Mann opposes SC verdict on controversial SYL canal

Fatehgarh Sahib: Simranjit Singh Maan President SAD (Amritsar) termed  the verdict delivered by SC on 10th November 2016 in context of SYL link canal as anti Punjab and the interests of the people of Punjab has been totally sidelined.

Former MP said that it was another instance of sheer discrimination towards the state of Punjab and such verdict may lead to a tense situation in the state.

The state of Punjab has an absolute right over the waters of Ravi, Beas and Satluj according to internationally recognized riparian rule, he added.

Modi Government in the center and the Punjab government lead by Prakash Singh Badal and the biased judiciary are to be held responsible for the explosive circumstances  that has build up due such verdict, said Maan.

He further stated that it was Congress party chief Captain Amrinder Singh in 1982 who welcomed the stone laying ceremony of SYL canal by the then Indian PM Mrs Indira Gandhi at Kapuri. On the other hand the clandestine land dealing by Parkash Singh Badal with Chaudary Devi Lal, former CM of Haryana, to fulfill his vested interests that has lead to such a glaring and shameful compromise of the interests of the state of Punjab and SAD (Amritsar) will not allow the construction of SYL at any cost and no matter what it takes will defend the waters of Punjab no matter what the odd’s are.
