Son of Sardar controversy – Fatehgarh Sahib court to hear arguments for summoning Ajay Devgn on 31 October

Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab (October 27, 2012): It is learnt that the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate of Fatehgarh Sahib has fixed October 31, 2012 as a date to hear arguments for summoning Bollywood actor and producer Ajay Devgn on a criminal complaint filed against him.

It is notable that a complaint had been moved by Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema s/o S. Harjinder Singh, r/o village Lohari Kalan, Tehsil Bassi Pathanan, Fatehgarh Sahib through his council Advocate Navkiran Singh in mid-September.

The complainant had moved to the court alleging offences under Section 295-A (blasphemy) and Sections 500/501 (Defamation) of Indian Penal Code for summoning the accused and trying him for the offences committed by him by producing and acting in the Hindi film “Son of Sardar” in which he has hurt the religious sentiments of the complainant and the Sikh community as well as defamed the Sikh community. The court had fixed October 15, 2012 as date for recording witness of complainant.

It is learnt that on October 15, 2012 the complainant get his statement recorded in the court and also handed over a copy of controversial promo of Ajay Devgn’s upcoming movie “Son of Sardar”.

The court reportedly inquired that Ajay Devgn had agreed to remove the objectionable parts from the movie.

“We informed the court that such a statement was published by various news outlets but the controversial promo is still available on Official YouTube channel of the movie and Ajay Devgn has failed to remove it”, Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema told Sikh Siyasat News.

“Now the court will hear the arguments October 31, 2012 for summoning Ajay Devgn in this case” he added.
