As per media reports, the Punjab government has taken a plea in the Punjab and Haryana High Court that the cremation of dead body of Ashutosh, a dera chief, could lead to law and order problem.
Punjab Police’s special investigation team has granted ‘clean chit’ to the followers of controversial Noormehal Dera called Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan (DJJS) in a case related to act of arson in a Jodhpur Gurdwara Sahib and burning a saroops of Guru Granth Sahib. The incident had taken place on December 01.

Controversial Noormehal Dera called Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan (DJJS) on Friday (December 05) failed to get any relief from the Punjab and Haryana high court on its petition asking the court to put its December 1 order for sect head Ashutosh’s cremation in abeyance for one month.

Tarn Taran/ Amritsar: A case was registered today against controversial Noormehal dera - Divya Jyoti Jagran Sansthan (DJSS) followers for opening fire on Sikhs village Jagatpur in Tarn Taran district. Dera Noormehal followers and the police had injurred 13 Sikhs in firing at village Jagatpur yesterday. The Sikhs were objecting to anti-Sikh activities of DJSS and it's followers.

Chandigarh/ Punjab (August 26, 2014): Controversial godman and head of Divya Jyoti Jagran Sansthan or the Noormehal dera, Ashutosh died on January 28, 2014 but his sect has been keeping his body in freezer claiming that he was alive and had just taken a Samadhi (meditation mode). The issue took another turn yesterday when a judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court questioned the Punjab government on its silence over the issue.
Chandigarh/ Jalandhar (April 23, 2014): Noormehal besad controversial "Divya Jyoti Jagran Sansthan (DJJS)" or the Noormehal Dera head and self-styled godman Ashutosh reportedly died on January 29, 2014. But he dera management is dramatically denying his death while admitting that he was clenically dead. Dera says that Ashutosh was in Samadhi, in a mortuary refrigerator and could revive again.

Chandigarh/ Jalandhar (February 05, 2014): As per certain media reports a DSP of Nakodar police today submitted a status report to the Punjab and Haryana High Court in response to a habeas corpus petition filed by a driver of dera Noormehal regarding Ashutosh.
