Former DIG & DSP Get Jail Terms in 31 Years Old Fake Encounter Case

A Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court, presided over by Judge RK Gupta, in Mohali, yesterday (7 June 2024) sentenced two former officials of the Punjab police in a 31-year-old fake encounter extrajudicial murder case.

A CBI Special Court in Mohali has convicted three Punjab Police officers for their involvement in the 1992 fake encounter murder of Sikh youth Harjit Singh. Former Inspector Dharam Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspector Gurdev Singh, and Sub-Inspector Surinder Singh were found guilty of their roles in the conspiracy and murder.
