The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) has demanded that the government of India should reopen Kartarpur Sahib corridor for yatris. The corridor which connects Kartarpur Sahib in Narowal district of West Punjab with Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur district of East Punjab was opened in November last year to allow Sikhs from eastren side to visit the sacred place of Kartarpur Sahib, once inhabited by Guru Nanak Ji.
China has welcomed opening of the Kartarpur Sahib corridor. Responding to question on November 11, China's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Geng Shuang said "We noted the reports and welcome the positive interaction between India and Pakistan".
"Today we are not only opening border but also our hearts for the Sikh community", Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said today in a special message on the opening of Kartarpur Sahib corridor.
Dal Khalsa has urged the Punjab government and the SGPC to equally share the financial burden of pilgrims who couldn’t afford $20 fee proposed by Pakistan for visiting Gurdwara Darbar Sahib through Kartarpur Sahib corridor.
Reports in Pakistani media say that Government of Pakistan has sent final draft of the proposed bilateral agreement on Kartarpur Sahib Corridor to the Government of India which is being built between East and West Punjab. Kartarpur Sahib corridor will connect Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur Sahib in West Punjab with Dera Baba Nanak in East Punjab to allow yatris from eastern side of Punjab to visit Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib without visa.
Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has reportedly said that despite tensions with India, Pakistan stands ready to open the Kartarpur Corridor and welcome the Sikhs on the occasion of 550th Parkash Gurpurb of Guru Nanak Ji.
Amidst easing tension Officials from India and Pakistan met Thursday amid easing tensions to discuss opening a visa-free border crossing to allow pilgrims to easily visit a Sikh shrine just inside Pakistan.
The officials of India and Pakistan held a meeting at Wagah-Attari crossing point between East and West Punjab. The meeting was held on East Punjab side. A joint statement was issued after the meeting.
In an expected move, the China on Monday (Dec. 3) welcomed India and Pakistan's move to open the Dera Baba Nanak to Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, saying strengthening dialogue between them and properly addressing their differences means a lot to the world peace and development.

Chandigarh, Punjab (June 15, 2013): It is learnt tht Arif Chaudhry, President of Pak-Indo Friendship Association reportedly hinted on June 14, 2013 that the Government of Pakistan may declare “Panja Sahib” as a holy city. Panja Sahib (Hassanabdal) is located near the frontier province of Pakistan. Panja Sahib is believed to house a rock with the hand prints of the founder of Sikh religion, Guru Nanak. It is considered to be a holy pilgrimage site for Sikhs all over the world and thousands of Sikh devotees pay visit to Sikh place every year.
Lahore, Pakistan (May 28, 2013):As per media reports the Government of Pakistan has decided to issue a 15 day pilgrim visa to the Sikh sangat visiting Gurudwara Dera Sahib in Lahore from East Punjab. A special train carrying 1,000 Jatha members would leave East Punjab for Pakistani Punjab on 4 June and stay until 18 June.
