Chandigarh/ Punjab (August 18, 2014): Congress leader Jagmeet Brar, who has been suspended by the party for his alleged indiscipline continues to shot his fires. He said that present leadership of Congress party in state was engaged in “match-fixing with the SAD (Badal)” a new party leadership was needed that could end this “match fixing”.

Chandigarh/ Punjab (August 17, 2014): It is learnt that Punjab Youth Congress (PYC) has come out to oppose the the screening of Punjabi movie 'Kaum de Heere', saying that the movie 'glorifies' the assassins of former Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi.
The Congress party today suspended two of it's senior state leaders - Jagmeet Singh Brar from Punjab and Birender Singh from Haryana.
Notwithstanding that the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president, Partap Singh Bajwa, is camping at Talwandi Sabo for the bypoll campaign, the party's candidate, Harminder Jassi, has asked the high command to depute Amritsar MP and former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh for his campaign too.

Chandigarh (August 3, 2014): Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa issued a show-cause notice to senior party leader Jagmeet Brar on Saturday (August 02) after his statement that party chief Sonia Gandhi and vice-chief Rahul Gandhi should take a two-year break. Brar, who made the statement in Delhi on Friday, was told to explain his conduct by August 5.
Chandigarh/ Punjab (July 18, 2014): Punjab's ruling party on 17 July took the opposition to the formation of separate Gurdwara committee for Haryana to the Punjab assembly. A resolution moved by Badal Dal was passed Punjab Legislative Assembly passed by voice vote a resolution seeking the Centre’s intervention in “prohibiting any state to interfere in religious matter of other states”.
