A Sikh global movement for justice: Filing of petition before the UNHRC in Geneva a historicevent gives Sikhs a sense of hope

GENEVA, Switzerland: More than 10,000 Sikhs from all over the world gathered in front of the United Nations Office in Geneva, Switzerland,to stand in solidarity on the issue of human rights violations of Sikhs in November 1984. The Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), the All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) and the Movement against Atrocities and Repression (MAR) organized the rally which was a resounding success.

Geneva, Switzerland (November 02, 2013): It is learnt that thousands of Sikhs from across the globe rallied on November 01, 2013 at the UN's Geneva base, demanding an international investigation of a deadly wave of genocidal violence against the Sikhs in India in 1984. Sikh activists have strongly asserted that the killings 29 years ago were state-sponsored genocide, while India blames them as mere “riots”.
