Chandigarh/ Punjab (February 21, 2014): As per certain reports the Punjab Government has quietly chalked a way out of the controversy surrounding Punjab DGP Sumedh Saini, whose transfer has been demanded by the opposition Congress party.

Chandigarh/ Punjab (February 19, 2014): While Punjab chief electoral officer (CEO) VK Singh is still in the process of informing India's Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) VS Sampath on the fate of Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini after the former received a report from the Punjab government favouring his continuation as police chief during the ensuing Lok Sabha polls, former Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh has also joined the issue, accusing Saini of being "a Badal loyalist".

This petition is moved by NGO named Voices for Freedom (VFF). In recent hearing in the court the VFF counsel countered the allegations levelled by the state government against VFF and told the court that CBI had registered a case of murder and abduction against Sumedh Saini.
