New Delhi, India: US President Barack Obama has reportedly accepted invitation by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to be ‘Chief Guest’ on India’s ‘republic day’ on 26 Januar 2015. Media reports says that Obama would be the first US President to attend India’s republic day celebration as ‘Chief Guest’.
Amritsar/ Chandigarh: In wake of indefinite hunger strike by Sikh activist Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa, Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh has discussed the issue of ‘Bandi Singhs’ with the Punjab government. Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa is seeking permanent release of seven Sikh political prisoners who are still confined in various Indian jails despite serving their sentences.

The State of California has the highest Sikh population in the United States and has recently made 1984 issue a part of mid-term Congressional election debate.
California, USA: A Sikh named Labh Singh Nigah was killed in a suspected hate crime on November 13, 2014 in Oxnard City of California. Labh Singh Nigah, 55, was reportedly stabbed to death in Sierra Linda Park when he was walking after dropping his son in the Sierra Linda Elementary School. Though the motive of the murder has yet to be ascertained, the American Sikh community suspect that the killing was a hate crime.
