Accommodated by Minister Sikander Maluka Hinduva Elements who Distort Sikh Ardas

December 28, 2016 | By

Rampura/Chandigarh: Punjab’s controversial minister Sikander Maluka is again at the centre of another controversy. Sikandar Maluka reportedly accommodated Hindutva elements during the opening of a regional office of Shiroamani Akali Dal (Badal) at Rampura Phul on December 26, 2016- where the Sikh Ardas was distorted after reciting hymns from  Hindutva mythological epic Ramayana.

The video of the event was recorded by someone, apparently on a mobile phone, which was later uploaded to the internet.

In this video minister Sikander Maluka and others could be seen as part of the gathering where Hindutva propagandists distorted the Sikh Ardas, changed its recitation and wordings and presented it as a Hindutva prayer.

Sikh circles have strongly condemned this act as a blasphemous, outrageous and  intentional mischief by Hindutva elements. They have also targeted minister Sikander Maluka and the ruling SAD (Badal) for accommodating such elements and holding Hindutva rituals – thereby violating Sikh tenets.

Talking to the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone former Akal Takht Jathedar Bhai Ranjit Singh said that Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal has been hell bent to damage Sikh tenets, values and ethos. “I have been outcrying for past two decades that Parkash Singh Badal aims at harming and destroying basic roots of the Sikhi and it is clearly visible to everyone”, he added.

“Akali Dal was formed to the serve the interests of the Sikh Panth but the Badal clan has been treating it as their private Ltd company to serve their ends by compromising the interests of the Sikh panth”, said Ranjit Singh.

Furthermore Bhai Ranjit Singh said that the status of Akal Takht Sahib as a free and independent institution must be  restored to tackle these challenges.

Bhai Satnam Singh Khandewala, former Panj Pyare at Akal Takht Sahib, said that Sikandar Maluka has been engaged in anti-Sikh activities earlier also. “Last year there was a call for ‘black Diwali’ by Sikhs to protest against repeated incidents of beadbi of Guru Granth Sahib, but Sikandar Maluka had openly declared to mark Diwali. And this time he has crossed all limits by allowing Hindutva elements to distort the Sikh Ardas”, he added.

Former Jathedar Giani Kewal Singh too strongly condemned the act of distorting the Sikh Ardas. He said that it was a very bad practice on the part of any religion to mischievously copy and change the sacred prayer of another religion.

He said that the control of Badal Dal over the SGPC has resulted in degeneration of Sikh institutions, which has led to rise in such anti-Sikh activities.

Meanwhile, local Sikhs from Rampura area have filed a police complaint against minister Sikander Maluka demanding registration of a case against him for hurting Sikh religious  sentiments.
