Indian News Channel Republic TV Terms Simranjeet Singh Mann As “BJP Ally”

March 18, 2018 | By

Chandigarh: An Indian news channel called Republic TV termed Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar (Mann) leader S. Simranjit Singh Mann as an ‘ally of Bhartiya Janta Party’. The video clip of a news reported by Republic TV is shared by Simranjit Singh Mann on Facebook in which R. (Republic TV) news anchor termed Simranjit Singh Mann as a leader of Shiromani Akali Dal- an ally of the Bhartiya Janta Party. In this video Repubic TV also played a video statement of SADA (Mann) leader in which he denounced any faith in the Indian constitution and advocate the formation of a ‘buffer-state’  called Khalistan between Islamic Pakistan, Hindu India and communist China.

The Republic TV anchor then lined-in the channel’s reporter named Ashwariya seeking his comments that the statement of Simranjit Singh Mann must be embarrassing for BJP adding that Mann was leader of an ally party of BJP. Even the reporter endorsed the claim.

Actually there are many factions of the Shriomani Akali Dal. Each faction is considered as a different political party. Only one of these factions, called – Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), led by Badal dynasty is in alliance of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). S. Simranjit Singh Mann is the leader of another SAD faction called Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar (Mann).

The Republic TV report is yet another endorsement to the fact that the Indian TV channels don’t even do some basic and information level search/research before putting their perceptions on air.

R. TV is also known for making false claims and airing content recorded by others as their ‘exclusive’ footage. Recently, Qaumi Awaaz Radio- a Melbourne based Punjabi radio raised objections to R. TV’s news report in which a video recorded by Qaumi Awaaz Radio was copied by R. TV from Radio’s Facebook page and it was aired as Republic TV’s exclusive footage. (Copy of written concern sent in this regard to Republic TV by QA Radio is available with the Sikh Siyasat News).

Earlier in December 2017, another Indian TV channel had claimed that Punjabi monthly magazine Vangaar is published by Shriomani Akali Dal Amritsar (Mann), whereas this magazine is published by Baljeet Singh Khalsa who is not connected to SADA (Mann).
