Scottish citizen Jagtar Singh Johal was today granted bail by Punjab and Haryana High court in Baghapurana (Moga) Case. Jagtar Singh, commonly known as Jaggi Johal, was picked by Punjab police up from Ramamandi (Jalandhar) on 4 November 2017. Police later recorded his arrested in FIR number 193/2016 (police station Baghapurana).
A trial court in Amritsar acquitted all six persons under UAPA in a 2017 case. The case was registered under Arms Act, Foreigners Act, Explosives Act and UAPA in May 2017.
It is learnt that a trial court in Badmer (Rajasthan) today sentenced one Jagmohan Singh and nine others to undergo eight counts of imprisonment for life in a UAPA case. The case was related to recovery of arms and explosives and the trial was held under various section of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) besides Arms Act, Explosives Act and Indian Penal Code.
Sikh political prisoner Bhai Lal Singh Akalgarh was finally released on a permanent basis today. He has been imprisoned in India for the past 28 years. Arrested on 14 July 1992, Bhai Lal Singh was sentenced to imprisonment for life by a designated TADA court of Ahmadabad Rural at Mirzapur (Gujrat) on 8 January 1997 under sections 3 and 5 of TADA Act, 120-B IPC, section 5 of Explosives Act and Section 25(1)(a) of Arms Act.

The review was filed against a SCI order allowing jail transfer of Jagtar Singh Jaggi, Hardeep Singh Shera, Ramandeep Singh Bagga and others to Tihar jail in Delhi. The court had also transferred cases against them from Special NIA court Mohali to a similar special court in Delhi.
Rajashtan high has granted relief to Sikh political prisoner Harnek Singh Bhapp who is presently confined in Central Jail, Jaipur. The High Court today granted parole of Harnek Singh, whose parole was cancelled by the Rajashtan government.
