Punjab Education Minister O.P. Soni today handed over appointment-cum-offer letters to 257 English and 342 Hindi subject teachers. He also handed over appointment letters to 6 clerks, 3 library restorers, 1 SLA and 16 class four employees on compassionate grounds. It is worth mentioning that appointment letters were given to 2082 teachers in Amritsar out of total 3582 teachers, whereas the matter related to English and Hindi subject teachers went to court. And today, after the court's verdict, the appointment letters were given to the remaining teachers in Mohali.

The course has been innovated by Harvard Divinity School and HarvardX (a branch of the university which offers free online courses aimed at global access to education).Interestingly, the majority of applicants among 1.30 lakh who have registered for the course are non-Sikhs and from the US, UK, Europe, Australia and other countries. “Almost 90% of applications that we have received are from non-Sikhs. People from different backgrounds living in the US, UK, Europe, Australia and other countries have registered for this four-week online course. This shows people from different ethnics and countries want to learn about Sikhism,” he added.

Yesterday on 30th July team of four journalists from News18(A private news company) went to investigate illegal mining near Amir Khas village in Jalalabad(Ferozepur).
