A CBI court today granted imprisonment for life for 47 policemen who were involved in killing 10 Sikhs in a fake encounter in 1991. Of 47 cops convicted by the special CBI court only 20 were present in the court while remaining 27, who were also absent on April 1 when the court had pronouncing it's judgement regarding conviction, have allegedly gone "missing".
On Friday, a CBI court convicted 47 policemen from Uttar Pradesh in a fake encounter in Pilibhit in 12 July 1991, in which 11 Sikh pilgrims were killed by Cops in cold blood. They were supposed to be sentenced today. However, in a shocking development 27 of those 47 policemen have reportedly gone missing.
On Friday (April 1) a special CBI court held 47 policemen guilty of killing 10 Sikh men in three fake encounters in a single night in Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident had taken place nearly 25 years ago — in July 1991. The case on of the few cases that were investigated by the CBI on the directions of Supreme Court of India (SCI).

Ludhiana, Punjab (Oct. 01): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has termed the police-ruling party complicity in Jamalpur/ Ludhiana fake encounter killing of two AAP activists as a well-planned conspiracy. AAP's Punjab convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur said that police involvement in the crime has already been established and it points to a well-planned conspiracy.
Chandigarh (Sept. 30): Two days after a police party along with a leader of ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) killed two young brothers in Jamalpur area of Ludhiana, the Punjab Government, on Sept. 29 suspended Khanna SSP Harish Kumar Bansal besides dismissing four others for their alleged involvement in the Jamalpur fake encounter.
